Winter in Connecticut is quite an experience for those new to our region, who have lived in climates where it's always warm. We've had several students experience their first chance to make a snowman during these last couple of years. Primary students wrote winter adventure stories using the creative writing skills they've learned. These skills include writing an entertaining beginning and including lots of specific details.
Of course, winter also brings many children's favorite holiday...Christmas! These students are learning about vocabulary related to Christmas traditions by playing a game of Bingo. They filled their Bingo boards with holiday words and covered them as I gave the definition of each.
Candy canes are a favorite holiday treat, especially when they look like Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer!
