Mrs. Amato's class was treated to a visit by Mrs. Tharau.
She shared photos, memorabilia, and stories of her stay in Argentina!

Below is a photo of Argentina's version of a Starbucks latte! People in Buenos Aires, the capital, walk around the city carrying a thermos of hot water to mix with yerba leaves. They sip the mate through a special straw or bombilla. It is a caffeinated beverage with medicinal qualities.
Mrs. Tharau also told the kids many fascinating stories regarding the culture and history of Argentina!
Here are the special guests who visited our Spanish classrooms during the 2007-2008 school year. We enjoy having parents, grandparents and friends visit the classroom to share their personal experiences from Spanish-speaking countries. Email Señora if you are interested in visiting us!
Puerto Rico Day!
Below are some pictures taken when a special guest came to visit Mr. Reynolds' class.
The special guest is the mother of one of Mr. Reynolds' students. Mrs. Kasandra O'Brien
entertained the students with stories of her homeland, Puerto Rico. She then led the
students through the steps necessary to create individual pastelillos. They were delicious!
She also gave each student a frozen cherry-flavored drink and a serving of Tres Leches
cake! The students enjoyed the experience and the flavors of Puerto Rico!

Frankie Rivera visits Har-Bur
By Kaitlyn age 11
In Spanish class on Tuesday the 27th of November, a special guest came to each fifth grade classroom. The special guest that came was Frankie Rivera. He is a musician from Puerto Rico. He played music, sang songs and taught us all about Puerto Rican music. Some of the instruments he played were (in Spanish) the guitarra, guiro, cuatro, maracas, chicharra, cucharitas, claves, and many more!
Frankie taught us a song that involved counting. Me and my class loved Frankie. He kept you entertained, dancing, and always singing. Frankie was a really good guitar player and I could tell he loved children. Frankie said he mostly worked with his family playing music. You could also tell he takes his time and is dedicated when it comes to music. Frankie was a joy to have in the class and I hope all fifth graders enjoyed him. |
