Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far- Oh, sorry... wrong story.
Anyway, our tale begins with a very ornery UPS, that had been malfunctioning for quite a while. Probably before I even started working for Region 10. It no longer wanted to perform its duties as a mild-mannered UPS; saving innocent switches from the perils of brown-outs, power-spikes, and noise in the line. Oh no! This conniving power unit had plans of treachery in store. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this formerly good-natured device that had provided peace of mind to all those attached to it, had gone to the dark side, quite literally.
Fortunately, Mr. Pont knew what villainous strategies lay in wait, and he arranged an ambush, to cut off the evil at its source. The UPS was disconnected from our switches and the main building power, and was left in an eternal slumber at the bottom of the wiring cabinet. It was here, that it waited, for anyone, not knowing of its rotten core, and ill-intentions, to awaken it.
However, no such day would come. A replacement UPS was dispatched, one more powerful and sleek than the last, it would be a long time before this new defender of power would give in to the temptation of outages and darkness. Thusly the corruption of the bad UPS was thwarted, and all was good in the universe....
...For now......
Here you can see where things went bad. The batteries had stretched their lives too long, and were no longer able to support the load they were meant to carry. They have bulged, and bloated with rottenness. This is what turns a good UPS bad. Tsk, tsk.
