    Dented PowerBook

Well, for the Star Wars fans out there, this is not (and as unfortunate as that may be) the dented helmet of a certain bounty hunter's infamy. It is the dented bottom case cover of a PowerBook G4, that had a little incident involving a 9.8m/s velocity and a flat surface. Yes, it was dropped on the floor.

The image you see below, is the brand spanking new bottom case cover fresh out of its cellophane wrapper. Mmmmm, new part smell. Hehe.

    Replacement Cover
Here is the machine with the TOP case cover removed, as you can see, everything mounts to the BOTTOM case cover, which means it all has to be dismantled, and transferred to the new bottom case cover. That's quite a number of parts. We like puzzles during the summer. Hehe.

Here are most of the parts after being removed from the machine. Some have already been migrated to their new home including the LCD Assembly, Heat-sink Assembly, Audio/DC-In board, AirPort Extreme Card & mounting assembly, and modem.

This is where the damage was incurred:

Ok, just kidding, that's actually a Master Replica of Boba Fett's Helmet with the "trademark dent" I was referring to earlier. Image copyright stormtrooperguy.com. Below is the damage to the powerbook. ;)
