The girls’ soccer team opened its season with a 2 to zero victory over a talented Litchfield squad at yesterday’s home game.Har-Bur kept up the aggressiveness and intensity during the entire 80 minute contest.Hailey Hock scored in the 1st half on a perfectly placed shot.In the 2nd half, Alyssa Halpin netted a goal off a beautiful cross from Mallory Buys.In the midfield, Iliana Sadler, Megan Claffey and Mikayla Penn controlled the action.Defensively, Martha Kelley, Katie Merritt, Tori Kryzwick and Megan Moriarty combined to shut down the Litchfield offense.Goalkeeper Teagan Dunn made over 10 saves in net for the Huskies.

The girls’ soccer team defeated Pearson 9 to 1 at yesterday’s first away game of the season.The Huskies did an outstanding job of possessing and passing the ball throughout most of the match and should be extremely proud of their collective efforts. Hailey Pilkington earned a “hat-trick” after scoring 3 goals.Julia Pearson added two goals.Alyssa Halpin, Hailey Hock, Mallory Buys and Morgan Baker each added one goal for Har-Bur.Solid performances were also turned in by Amanda Stocker, Hannah Doyle, Megan Claffey, Sarah Wrabel, Iliana Sadler and Martha Kelley.

Julia Pearson scored the first 3 goals for another Har-Bur “hat-trick” as the girls’ soccer team defeated Northwest Region 7 six to zero at yesterday’s home game.The Huskies dominated the game from start to finish.7th graders Morgan Baker and Hailey Pilkington each added a goal and Hailey Hock had some spectacular flip throw-ins.Katie Merrit, Meg Moriarty, Tori Kryzwick and Sarah Wrabel anchored the defense.In the midfield, Hannah Dolye, Mikayla Penn and Amanda Stocker were aggressive and distributed the ball effectively.Goalkeepers Teagan Dunn and Alyssa Halpin each made several big saves in net to secure the shut-out for Har-Bur.
The girls’ soccer team cruised past Eli Terry Jr. 9 to zero at yesterday’s away game.The Huskies did a super job of controlling and passing the ball during both halves of play.Megan Claffey led all scorers with 2 goals.Also scoring for Har-Bur were Tori Kryzwick, Amanda Stocker, Katie Merrit, Julia Pearson, Morgan Baker, Hailey Pilkington and Hailey Hock.Co-captain Iliana Sadler had a strong performance as the goalkeeper in the second half.Mallory Buys and Martha Kelley were solid in the midfield, exhibiting nice touches and crosses to their teammates.
Wearing their blue road uniforms and face paint, the girls’ soccer team won its 5th game of the season after defeating Chippens Hill White 4 to 1 at yesterday’s home game.The Huskies fell behind 1 to zero midway through the 1st half.Just minutes later, Alyssa Halpin scored the 1st of her 2 goals after receiving a beautiful pass from Julia Pearson.Leading 2 to 1 entering the 2nd half, the Huskies ramped up the intensity.Megan Claffey netted a goal off a double assist from Iliana Sadler and Mikayla Penn.Hailey Pilkington added the final goal for Har-Bur.Defensively, Martha Kelley, Tori Kryzwick, Katie Merrit, Hannah Doyle, Sarah Wrabel and Megan Moriarty combined to limit the Chippens’ offense. Goalkeeper Teagan Dunn had another solid performance in net.
Julia Pearson recorded her second 3 goal “hat-trick” of the season as the girls’ soccer team defeated Canton 6 to zero at yesterday’s home game.Alyssa Halpin and Hailey Pilkington each added a goal.Iliana Sadler blasted in the final goal from 20 yards out after receiving a nice pass from Teagan Dunn.Outside right midfielder Mallory Buys had several impressive shots and crosses into Canton territory.Some of the other Huskies who played a solid game were Morgan Baker, Shannon Doyle, Amanda Stocker and the flip-throw-in machine Hailey Hock.Co-captain Tori Kryzwick made her season debut as the Har-Bur goalkeeper in the second half and had a few nice stops.

The girls’ soccer team won its 7th game in a row after defeating an aggressive and talented Litchfield squad 2 to zero yesterday.The Cowgirls came out extremely focused and intense and dictated play for the first 15 minutes.The Huskies eventually picked it up and began to control the action.Just past 20 minutes in the 1st half, Mallory Buys received a pass out wide, dribbled in and then blasted a shot past the Litchfield keeper for the game’s first goal.10 minutes later, striker Julia Pearson carried the ball over 20 yards and then rocketed it in for goal #2.In the midfield, Mikayla Penn, Hannah Doyle and Megan Claffey worked hard.Har-Bur’s defense was outstanding.Stopper Martha Kelley was a beast, clearing ball after ball out of Husky territory.Katie Merrit, Megan Moriarty, Tori Kryzwick and Sarah Wrabel all were also rock solid in the backfield. Goaltender Teagan Dunn made over 10 saves to preserve the shut out.

Team manager Taylor Anderson made her playing debut and scored 2 goals to lead the girls’ soccer team to a 6 to zero victory over Northwest Region 7 yesterday in Winsted.Also scoring for Har-Bur were Morgan Baker, Alyssa Halpin, Mallory Buys and Julia Pearson.Midfielders Iliana Sadler, Amanda Stocker, Hailey Hock and forward Hailey Pilkington all played a solid game.Mikayla Penn had a nice performance as the Husky goalkeeper for most of the second half. The team then celebrated their victory with a dinner at McDonald's.

In a weather-shortened game, the girls’ soccer team rolled past Pearson 7 to zero yesterday at home.Despite the cold temperature and snow, the Huskies worked together for their 9th victory of the season.Amanda Stocker and Hailey Pilkington each scored 2 goals.Mikayla Penn, Sarah Wrabel and Julia Pearson each added 1 goal.Midfielders Iliana Sadler, Megan Claffey, Hannah Doyle and Morgan Baker combined for a couple assists.The defense for Har-Bur was anchored by Tori Kryzwick, Katie Merrit and Megan Moriarty.Goalkeeper Taylor Anderson toughed out the bitter cold in the backfield and secured the shut-out for the lady Huskies.

UCONN SOCCER!!
On Saturday night, October 17th, Coach Samudosky, Coach Sidney and 36 members of the girls and boys soccer teams attended a UCONN Men’s soccer game at Joe Marrone Stadium in Storrs, CT.The Har-Bur Huskies watched as the Connecticut Huskies defeated their Big East rivals – the Pittsburgh Panthers 2 – 0 in front of a crowd of 3,100.In a well-played and physical contest, the #10 nationally ranked Connecticut men scored two goals in the second half to win the match.UConn out-shot their opponent 24 to 6 over the 90 minutes of regulation time.During the game, the Har-Bur crew munched on popcorn, hotdogs, nachos and cheese, pretzels and candy and washed it down with hot chocolate.The students were extremely well behaved and everyone had fun.

With only 13 available players, the girls’ soccer team traveled to Bristol and defeated a previously unbeaten and very talented Northeast squad 2 to 1 at yesterday’s away game.Northeast took a 1 goal lead into halftime.Just 90 seconds into the 2nd half, Husky forward Julia Pearson poked one by the keeper for the equalizer.15 minutes later, outside midfielder Iliana Sadler received a beautiful pass from Megan Claffey, dribbled down the right sideline, and then sent a perfect cross to Morgan Baker who netted the go-ahead and winning goal.Amanda Stocker and Sarah Wrabel did an outstanding job of marking one of Northeast’s best players for most of the contest.Defenders Katie Merritt, Meg Moriarty and Tori Kryzwick all had super performances in the backfield.Forward Alyssa Halpin kept hustling and goaltender Teagan Dunn had over 15 saves in net for her best performance of the season. Hailey Pilkington and Taylor Anderson played some key minutes for Har-Bur. The whole team is to be commended for their collective efforts in the physical and hard-fought victory.

11 games… 11 wins.The girls’ soccer team remains undefeated after beating Eli Terry Jr. 6 to zero yesterday at home.The Huskies did an outstanding job of possessing and passing the ball.Megan Claffey, Mikayla Penn, Taylor Anderson, Julia Pearson and Hailey Hock each scored. The final goal was netted by Megan Moriarty, who scored for the 1st time this season.Some of Meg’s earlier shots hit the goalpost, crossbar, or missed the frame entirely, but her last attempt finally made its way in.Other strong performances were turned in by Morgan Baker, Alyssa Halpin, Hailey Pilkington, Hailey Hock and Amanda Stocker.
