The girls’ basketball team opened its season at home with two victories against Northwest. The score of the first game was 38 to 27 and the second game ended with Har-Bur winning 32 to 2.
In the 1st contest, the Huskies out-played and out-hustled their opponent on both ends of the floor.Taylor Perzan led all scorers with 10 points.Captains Lesleigh Carter and Mikayla Penn each added 6 points.Teagan Dunn played outstanding defense, and had a ton of rebounds.Mollie Quinn-Alger, Mackenzie Bergstrom and Bailey Pace all did a super job of controlling the ball.Coral Colby, Tori Kryzwick and Natalie Ruel came off the bench and contributed some key minutes for the Huskies.
In the second game, Emily Mica was a scoring machine, pumping in 12 points.Rachel Lord chipped in 6 points.Alyssa Halpin added 4 points and also had a couple of blocked shots.Katie Merrit and Caroline Lockwood each had several assists and played solid defense.
The team would like to thank the Husky cheerleaders for all their energy during both games.
In their first away game of the season, the girls’ basketball team rolled past Litchfield 53 to 6.Har-Bur completely dominated their opponent from start to finish.Lesleigh Carter and Alyssa Halpin combined for 17 points.Teagan Dunn and Mackenzie Bergstrom each scored 6 points.Centers Emily Mica and Coral Colby chipped in 4 points a piece.Other strong Husky performances were turned in by Mikayla Penn, Tori Kryzwick, Mollie Quinn-Alger, Taylor Perzan, Katie Merrit and Bailey Pace.
The girls play their next game tomorrow at home in a double header with the Har-Bur boys against Pearson.

In the first game of a home double-header, the girls’ basketball team cruised past Pearson 63 to 10.All 15 lady Huskies contributed in the victory.Teagan Dunn was the top scorer with 10 points.Mikayla Penn, Lesleigh Carter and Mollie-Quinn Alger each added 8 points.Some of the other girls who put points on the scoreboard for Har-Bur were Coral Colby, Rachel Lord, Tori Kryzwick, Katie Merrit and Natalie Ruel.Solid passing and aggressive defense was turned in by Mackenzie Bergstrom, Bailey Pace and Emily Mica.
The team then celebrated their victory with some yummy refreshments in Coach Sam's room. After the social, it was down to the gym again to cheer for and support the Har-Bur boys.

The girls’ basketball team defeated Chippens Hill Blue 32 to 11 at Bristol.After a sloppy first half, Har-Bur picked up the offense and defense at the start of the 3rd quarter and quickly put the game out of reach.Center Teagan Dunn was the leading scorer with 10 points.Mikayla Penn, Tori Kryzwick and Lesleigh Carter each added 4 points.Katie Merrit, Rachel Lord and Emily Mica chipped in one basket apiece.Defensively, Taylor Perzan, Caroline Lockwood and Alyssa Halpin were solid for the Huskies.

The girls’ basketball team played their best game of the season so far and defeated a previously unbeaten Eli Terry squad 51 to 29 on the road.From the opening tip, Har-Bur took control of the contest and never looked back.The Huskies’ intense and aggressive half-court man defense completely shut down their opponent’s offense and rhythm.Teagan Dunn was a monster in the post, powering in 14 points.Lesleigh Carter pulled down numerous rebounds and Taylor Perzan had several big assists.Mollie Quinn-Alger and point guard Mikayla Penn combined for 14 points and did an outstanding job of controlling the ball and running the offense.Mackenzie Bergstrom, Bailey Pace and Natalie “Wampashay” Ruel came off the bench and contributed some huge minutes for the Huskies.
The team then celebrated their victory with a dinner at McDonald's.

The girls’ basketball team won its 7th game in a row after defeating Chippens Hill white 40 to 19 in Bristol.After a very slow start, the Huskies finally got some momentum going half way through the 2nd quarter and then quickly blasted out to a comfortable lead.Top scorers were Lesleigh Carter and Teagan Dunn with 10 points each.Bailey Pace knocked in 9 big points.Some of the other girls who scored for Har-Bur were Alyssa Halpin, Katie Merrit and Coral Colby.Post players Rachel Lord, Tori Kryzwick and Emily Mica all did a great job on defense.

In the first game of the away double-header in Winsted, the girls’ basketball team defeated Pearson 42 to 13.In the loud and rockin’ gymnasium, the Huskies out shot, out hustled, out re-bounded and out defended their opponent.The top scorer in the game was Teagan Dunn with 12 points.Tori Kryzwick added 6 points.Also contributing offensively for Har-Bur were Emily Mica, Coral Colby, Natalie Ruel, Caroline Lockwood and Mackenzie Bergstrom.
The girls’ basketball team defeated Chippens Hill White 57 to 11 at home.With solid defense, crisp passing, accurate shooting and numerous drives to the basket, the Huskies coasted their way to win number 13 on the season.Combining for 25 points were Teagan Dunn, Lesleigh Carter and Taylor Perzan.Coral Colby, Emily Mica and Natalie Ruel were responsible for another combined 17 points.Nice ball handling and an overall strong performance was turned in by Mackenzie Bergstrom, Mikayla Penn, Katie Merrit, Alyssa Halpin, Bailey Pace and Caroline Lockwood.

In the first game of the away double-header against Northwest, the girls’ basketball team found themselves in their toughest battle of the season thus far.After trailing 8 to 2 early, the team switched up the defense, buckled down, and slowly moved out to a short lead.Har-Bur entered the 3rd quarter ahead by 5 points, but would struggle massively to convert any baskets or free-throws for most of the 2nd half.Northwest surged ahead by two points with only minutes to play.However, the Huskies were not to be denied of their 14 consecutive win.Taylor Perzan hit one big free throw and Teagan Dunn punched in 2 huge buckets to seal the 26 to 22 victory for the Huskies.Throughout the game, Lesleigh Carter and Coral Colby played intense defense and had several rebounds.Mikayla Penn and Mackenzie Bergstrom did a nice job of running the offense.Mollie Quinn-Alger and Bailey Pace came off the bench to provide some key minutes for the Huskies.

After singing the national anthem, the members of the girls’ basketball team went on to defeat a very talented Eli Terry squad 39 to 28 at the final game of the season.It was a hard-fought 16th victory for Har-Bur and only the 2nd loss of the season for Terryville, the first one coming just a few weeks earlier at the hands of the Huskies.Har-Bur jumped out to a quick lead, but Eli Terry came storming back and even surged ahead.After a defensive switch, the Huskies sank some hoops and led by 3 points at halftime.Both teams would match baskets in the 3rd quarter.In the 4th quarter, Har-Bur put in 8 points and used intense extended zone defense to hold their opponent scoreless for the final 8 minutes of the game.Teagan Dunn led the team with 14 points.Lesleigh Carter added 11 points.Taylor Perzan scored 8 points and had several big assists.Guards Mikayla Penn, Mollie-Quinn Alger and Mackenzie Bergstrom did an outstanding job of controlling the ball and penetrating Eli-Terry’s press and defense.Coral Colby, Tori Kryzwick and Bailey Pace came off the bench and played some key minutes for the team.
The team then celebrated their win with some home-made chocolate chip cookies and Costco vanilla cupcakes with blue teeth-staining frosting!!

2-19-10 ...... The day after wrapping up their season, the girls team traveled to Terryville with the Har-Bur boys to watch and support them play Eli Terry. The "Lady Huskies" cheered loudly and proudly for the boys during the duration of the game.
