Course Descriptions:

Grade 5: Problem Based Learning

PBL is both a curriculum and a process. The curriculum consists of carefully selected and designed problems that demand from the learner acquisition of critical knowledge, problem solving proficiency, self-directed learning strategies, and team participation skills. The process replicates the commonly used systemic approach to resolving problems or meeting challenges that are encountered in life and career.



Grade 6
Technology Education is provided to all sixth grade students. The goal of the course is to give students an awareness of the role Technology has in our society and its impacts. Students will be involved in hands-on activities both individually and as groups in the following Technologies: Transportation, Manufacturing, Communication, and Construction. Emphasis is on group interaction, problem solving, and following directions.

Grade 7
Technology Education is provided to all seventh grade students. The goal of the course is to give students the opportunity to explore the technologies in the areas of Transportation, Construction, Manufacturing, and Communication. How these technologies influence our lives socially, economically, and environmentally are discussed. Group hands on activities, as well as individual projects will be provided. Emphasis is on group interaction, problem solving, and following directions.

Technology Skills
-Students will be able to demonstrate basic problem solving strategies
-Students will be able to Use basic hand tools and equipment safely
-Students will be able to utilize the Design Process in their daily activities
- Students will be able to create two-dimensional drawings
-Students will be able to create three-dimensional drawings
-Students will be able to use a CAD program to generate Multiview drawings
-Students will be able to use a CAD program to generate a 3D Home
-Students will be able to use power tools and power equipment safely
