    WELLNESS What is Wellness? Wellness is a course specifically designed to educate students in the areas of physical fitness, health, nutrition, individual and group sport skills and activities. WELLNESS TEAM Mr. Callahan Mr. Cavagnuolo Ms. Smith Miss Wartonick Mrs. Leonard


    Students should change into appropriate attire to participate in class. It must be different attire than clothing worn to school. Appropriate attire includes sneakers, shorts and a t-shirt. Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade will be given a locker in the locker room to store clothing and personal or valuable items during class. This will be your locker for the whole year and the combination should not be shared. Students should have a notebook, folder and pencil for each class. Students are expected to have respect for self, peers, teachers, equipment and the facilities. You should report to the gym or classroom on time and are expected to participate in a variety of physical activities and class discussions while maintaining a positive attitude and showing good effort. Assessments include: · Department grading rubric (available on the Wellness wiki) · Journal entries, which include reflection and factual information · Peer and self assessment, skill assessments · Tests and quizzes · Projects and homework assignments and classroom activities All students are expected to make up any assignments missed due to an absence from class. Students who are unprepared or have a Doctor’s excuse for class can complete an alternate assignment for credit. All assignments must be made up within two weeks of the class missed and any classes not made up will be graded as a “0”. FALL SPORTS 7th and 8th grade Girls Soccer Boys Soccer 6th, 7th and 8th grade Cross Country WINTER SPORTS 7th and 8th grade Girls Basketball Boys Basketball Cheerleading SPRING SPORTS 7th and 8th grade Softball Baseball 6th, 7th and 8th grade Track and Field A variety of intramurals will be offered after school until 4:00 and students can take the late bus home on Tuesdays and Thursdays


    Our mission is to expose students to a multitude of successful and meaningful movement experiences while fostering an environment that is positive and safe both physically and emotionally. It is our goal to empower students with the skills and concepts necessary to participate in responsible decision-making and demonstrate behaviors to improve and enhance the quality of their lives. We are responsible to develop the whole learner, including critical thinking, literacy, physical, emotional, and social skills. A strong focus is placed on healthy lifestyles and respect for lifelong physical activity. In providing these opportunities, each student will be prepared to lead and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
