The JV volleyball team opened their season tonight with an exciting 2-1 set win over Northwest Region at Lewis Mills 25-17, 23-25, 25-22. Rachael Ashburn and Amber Tharau led the charge in the first set with 5 service points each. Hannah Doyle led the hitting attack with spikes from the strong side, middle and back row. Game two was a narrow loss with a come back rally led by Alise Martels string of 7 serves. Game 3 featured stellar play from setters Katie Hurlock and Leah Alger. Good job to all!

Captain Erika Daigle and Junior Tori Kryzwick led the lady spartans volleyball hitting attack with 6 kills and 4 aces each for a season opening win over Berkshire League rival Northwest Regional, Thursday night. Adding to the cause were captains Jordan LeBel and Molly Zepp with 15 service points each. The lady spartans had a balanced attack in the 3-0 set win, the first in the last 4 seasons against NWR. First year varsity coach Chuck Drda stated "the girls played with a lot of emotion and energy, jumping out to a 25-16 win in game 1". LeBel and Baily Sidel both began runs with jump float serves to close out game 2, 25-17. Game 3 was highlighted by 3 kills each from Teagan Dunn and Molly Alger in a 25-16 win. Northwest Regional was led by Rasa Hamel with 3 digs, 3 blocks and 4 kills and Gina Folina providing 10 assists

Ladies.....Great Job! Great Teamwork! Great Energy! Enough said!

We have a few other things going on beside the on court play including:

TEAM PICTURES next Monday the 17th. Bring your uniforms and black spandex.

BAKE SALE every Wednesday (we brought in over $120 today! good job ladies!)

CONSESSION STAND we are still looking for parents to sign up for their session. Please contact Mrs. K.

And a whole slew of other upcoming events so please keep an eye on Mrs. K's emails.

Practices next week will be 4-6 with Defense on Monday and Setters on Tueday 6-6:15

Finally, we are at the point where the fun begins. We get to replace practice and scrimages with officals and opponents. This is where the true measure of our team will begin to unveil itself. Northwestern Regional will be a tough foe and I am looking forward to a great match. Win or lose, we need to remeber we practiced like a Spartan and will now act like a Spartan.
